First time at Humanics Sanctuary & Sculpture Park?

5 Things to Know Before Visiting

We’re so excited to see you’re interested in visiting our Sanctuary & Sculpture Park! However, before you come, there are a few things we believe may be helpful to know while you’re planning your trip.

We’ll outline what you should bring, what to expect and how to make the most out of your visit here at the park.

Ready to Explore?

1. Come Prepared For Nature

Because our park is nestled within a lush, nine-acre wooded ravine and follows a flowing creek, you’ll be surrounded by vibrant local flora and fauna. As with any beautiful natural forest area, this means you might encounter some tiny, uninvited guests on your walk.

To avoid unwanted bug bites, we highly recommend bringing and applying bug repellent before you start your hike to keep your walk comfortable and itch-free. We have bug spray available for sale at the front office.

As you may have heard recently, there has been an increased population of ticks this season. To minimize your risk, we recommend you stay on the gravel trails and do a quick check of your clothing before exiting the park.

2. Check Our Operating Hours

The park is open from Thursday to Monday, 10 am to 5 pm, from the Saturday of the May long weekend to the 31st of October.  We are closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays and certain holidays. To check if the park is open, please see our operating hours on Google or on our website here.

3. Dress Appropriately

Being open in the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons means the park goes through a variety of different weather conditions. Please check the forecast and bring extra layers for colder months, as well as sunscreen for sunny days and an umbrella if rain is expected.

Our walking trails take you on gravel paths with some small hills, so please wear comfortable walking shoes or sneakers to ensure you can navigate the trails easily.

4. Bring Something Fun!

Whether you’re coming to relax, learn, or explore, it never hurts to bring something to help you further enjoy your experience.

If you’re an artist, bring a sketchbook and pencil. If you enjoy photography, bring a camera to take some photos. If you enjoy yoga or meditation, bring a small mat or pillow.

As long as guests remain respectful of the environment and others, we encourage everyone to try to make the most of their visit to the park.

5. Questions? Feel Free to Ask.

Our staff is here to help. If you have questions before your visit, you can call us at (613) 897-1525. At the park, you can ask questions at the front office as well as borrow a map or request a guided tour.
